Lydia J. (Bobrowsky) Wooster, 93, of Bethany peacefully left this life to tend to the eternal garden on August 11, 2016. She was born in Oxford CT on November 5, 1922. She was predeceased by her husband George O. Wooster. She is survived by her children Linda Wooster of Bethany, CT; Barbara Wooster Arvanetes of Rhinebeck, NY and George F. Wooster (Elizabeth) of Wallingford. Her extended family lived locally which meant she shared many wonderful experiences and amassed fabulous memories with her grandsons Tom Green (Toni), Steve Green (Melody Margitich) and George O. Wooster and great grandchildren Devlin and Logan Green and Natylee and Nolan Green. She was predeceased by several brothers and sisters. Lydia worked as a secretary at the West Haven Veterans Hospital and Southern CT State University. However, her life was centered on her family and home. Family was everything to Lydia. She was proud of the accomplishments of her children and grandsons and never grew tired of hearing about their projects. She attended every athletic contest....and there were many! Her grandsons were her pride and joy and she taught them carpentry skills, to hunt, fish, and play various sports. As grandmothers go, Lydia was extremely hands on. A pint sized ball of energy, Lydia was always on the go. Her intelligence, logic, and love of life earned the respect and admiration of family and many Bethany residents. She had a wonderful personality and a feistiness that resulted in positive action for several community projects. Lydia helped build two houses with her husband and acquired carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and painting skills which she passed on to her family. Lydia delighted in gardening and could make anything grow. Her flower gardens bloomed throughout the season and her vegetable gardens produced an abundance of vegetables. When Lydia wasn't gardening, working on the house, taking care of animals, attending her grandsons' events, or helping neighbors, she enjoyed going to tag sales and was quite the bargain hunter. She was well known for the huge tag sales she conducted at her house. Lydia spent the past years as a resident of Paradigm/Regal Care of Prospect. Her family expresses sincere appreciation to the many associates: Elza, Bernite, Millie, Faye, Rose, Gale, Marie, Grace, Shauna, Camille, Stacey, Jamie, Laurie, Denise, Catherine; the Recreation Department (Jeanne, Sue, Cathy, Sue), and the many others who became part of Lydia's extended family. Friends may visit with her family on Sunday, August 14th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave, Hamden. During this time at 6:00 PM a Prayer Service celebrating her life will be held in the funeral home. Her interment will be private.
