Maria Ottilia Koel 'Otti', age 95, of Hamden, wife of the late Ake Ilmar Koel, passed away on September 3, 2018 at Whitney Center. She was born in Komarom, Hungary on April 3, 1923 to the late Gabor and Ethel Heidler Nemeth. After completing college at the University of Toronto, where she met her husband Ake, and The Catholic University of America, Maria went on to work in the University of Toronto Library, Georgetown Library for 18 years, and then became Curator of Manuscripts of the Whitney Library of the New Haven Colony Historical Society, now the New Haven Museum. Maria is survived by a relative Helen Yu of Maryland. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Monday Sept. 17 at 10am in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Hamden.
