Marilyn E. Boettger, 81, peacefully passed away on January 22, 2020 at MidState Medical Center. Born in Waterbury, Connecticut on July 22, 1938, Marilyn was the daughter of the late Charles and Ella (Bradley) Gould. She grew up in Meriden, Connecticut where she made lifelong friends. After graduating from Meriden High School in 1956 she attended Southern Connecticut State College and completed both Bachelor and Master of Science degrees. Marilyn was the beloved wife of the late Gerhard M. Boettger. They married in 1970 and resided in Wallingford, Connecticut. A loving mother and sister, Marilyn is survived by her faithful daughters Kara Boettger and Lisa Boettger; step-daughter Gerda Leveille and her husband Patrick; and brother Charles 'Bud' Gould and his wife Patricia. She was predeceased by her step-daughter Helga Glynn and her husband Thomas. Marilyn worked as a caring teacher for over 25 years for the State of Connecticut and for Kodman's Small World Nursery School of Wallingford, where she was fondly known as 'Mrs. Lyn'. Later in her career she shared her love and knowledge of flowers and plants as a salesperson, consultant, and designer at Tower Farms Garden Center of Cheshire, Connecticut. In retirement, she was the devoted caregiver of her husband, Gerhard. Throughout her life Marilyn was a talented artist who painted and sketched. As a child and as an adult, with family and with friends, she spent countless summers at the Connecticut and Rhode Island shorelines. Marilyn was a voracious reader and crossword puzzle enthusiast, like her mother. She was a passionate fan of the New York Yankees and of UConn Basketball, especially the Women's team. In her own words, 'Remember my life, remember me for who I was, and how I lived my life. I've tried to be a good, kind, and helpful person. I've loved a lot of people and I want them to remember me with love.' At her request, no services will be held.
