Marion A. Tripp Mitchell, age 91, of Oak Street, West Haven, passed away on July 4th 2010. Born in Hartford, CT on Dec. 21, 1918 she was a daughter of the Arthur & Marie Schmidt Tripp. Marion was the widow of Orion C. Mitchell, Sr; mother of Mrs. Eileen & her husband Raymond Thompson of Swanzey, New Hampshire and Mrs. Karen & her husband Bob Gilmore of West Haven & the late Orion C. Mitchell, Jr; grandmother of Susan Latvis, Raymond Thompson, Jr., Wendy Sampson, Heather Smith, Robert Gilmore & Ryan Gilmore. Marion is also survived by 7 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sisters, Mary Leith & Helen Barber and brothers, Walter, Charles, William and James Tripp. Marion was one of the first graduates in the Grace New Haven Hospital Nurses Aid Program. She worked as a nurse's aide for many years at the former Arterburn Nursing Home. Relatives and friends may attend her Funeral Service on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 11:30 AM in the BEECHER & BENNETT - TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, 410 Campbell Ave. West Haven and may also visit with her family at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5 to 7 PM.
