Marion Emma Longyear Nattrass, age 91, formerly of West Haven and Clearwater, FL, died under hospice care at Masonic Healthcare on May 5, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was born in New Haven on June 1, 1926 a daughter of the late Harry and Henrietta Morehead Longyear. One of nine children and a twin to her sister Muriel, Marion grew up in East Haven. In addition to her sister, she is predeceased by siblings Henry, Robert, Lorraine, Dorothy, Donald, Marjorie, and George. She worked as a telephone operator for both Yale University and New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroads for many years. Marion was fiercely loyal to her family, known for her humility, generosity, and pithy opinions often delivered with a mischievous twinkle in her big blue eyes. She was married to her husband, Robert Rennison Nattrass Jr. for 40 years. She leaves her children Robert R. Nattrass III and his wife Julia, and Ronald C. Nattrass and his wife Susan; her grandchildren Robert R. Nattrass IV and Charley, Steven Nattrass and Kelly, Jeffrey Nattrass and Erin, Kate Nattrass and Alexandra Nattrass; nine great-grandchildren, Thomas, Christopher, Emma, Elizabeth, Benjamin, Emery, Daniel, Cole, and Ansley; many nieces and nephews; and her sister-in-law, Marcia Longyear. Marion was a dedicated and long time member of The Golden Rod Chapter # 34 Order of the Easter Star for over 30 years. The family would like to thank the staff of Ramage 6 and the hospice team of Masonicare of Wallingford for their compassion and care. Marion's funeral service will be held on Wednesday May 9 at 11am in the Porto Funeral Home, 830 Jones Hill Rd. West Haven. Friends may visit with her family from 9am until the time of the service.
