Mark Lorenzo Hamilton died early Friday morning, January 25, 2008 after a brave and dignified battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family. Mark was born in Meriden, CT December 13, 1923, son of the late Lorenzo Hamilton and Ella Stohr Hamilton and lived in Meriden most of his life. He graduated from Meriden High School and the University of Colorado. Mark proudly served his country as a lieutenant in the Navy as a naval aviator. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Meriden, the Y's Mens of Meriden and the Camp Claire Board of Directors. He was retired from Northeast Utilities where he worked for 31 years. Besides his wife of 52 years, Elaine Tisdall Hamilton, Mark is survived by his brother James Lyman Hamilton of Cabot, VT; his daughters: Shelley Hamilton Mack and her husband Thomas of Essex, CT and Jean Hamilton Welch and her husband Robert of Vail, AZ; his son Mark Lorenzo Hamilton, Jr. and his wife Margaret of Meriden, CT; and his beautiful granddaughter Mackenzie Jacqueline Hamilton. A funeral service will be held Monday, January 28, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at The First Congregational Church, 62 Colony St., Meriden, CT. The Rev. John Clarke will officiate. A luncheon in Smith Hall at the church will be immediately following. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Camp Claire Beautification Fund, c/o First Congregational Church, 62 Colony St., Meriden, CT or to a charity of your choice in Mark's name.
