Obituary

In Branford, Friday, February 8, 2008, Mary Deyermond Kaye, 86, of Hamden. Mother of Warren H. Kaye of Las Vegas, NV, Diana K. Harris of Toms River, NJ and Dr. Carolyn K. Lee, of Cleveland Heights, OH and sister of Gladys Markert of Hardwick, MA. Mary is survived by four grandchildren, including Ashley Voos of NYC, formerly of Hamden. She also leaves two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Robert V. Deyermond and a sister, Isabel Farrington. A daughter of the late Robert V. and Gladys Napier Deyermond, Mary was born in Andover, MA October 27, 1921. She attended Simmons College in Boston and received her Masters Degree from Southern Connecticut State University. Mary was a teacher and later guidance counselor in the Hamden school system, retiring in 1988. She was a past president of Hamden Women's Club and the PTA. Friends may visit with the family Wed., Feb. 13 from 4-6:30 pm at BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 WHITNEY AVE., HAMDEN. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mary's name can be made to CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405.
