Wallingford - Mary "Peggy" Martin, 86, wife of 65 years to William Martin passed away peacefully on Friday, November 24 after a brief illness. She was born December 11, 1919 in Hartford, Ct daughter of the late Edward and Hilma (Fahrman) Betters of Bloomfield, CT. Peggy retired from Ct. Valley Hospial. She and her husband then retired to Florida where they lived for 23 years. They then returned to Connecticut where they resided at the Masonic Home for the last 11 years. After moving back to Connecticut Peggy was a tireless volunteer at the Masonic Home and at Parker Farms Elementary School in Wallingford. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star- Chapter 8 for 50 years. Peggy was also a proud and consistent blood donor who had surpassed the ten gallon donation level. Besides her husband William, she is survived by four daughters and their spouses, Judy and Robert Karle of Middlefield, Vicki Edwards of Palmer, MA, Christine Martin and Anthony Mazzariello of Brooklyn, NY and Shirley and Jim Anderson of Meriden, ten grandchildren, Michael, Darcy, Polly, Michelle, Jennifer, Hillary, Megan, Martin, Anna and Emma and four great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, November 27, 2006 at Masonic Healthcare Center Chapel, 22 Masonic Ave., Wallingford at 2:00pm.
