Obituary

MERIDEN - Mary Donaj McGoldrick, 95, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2006 at Curtis Home. Born in Chicopee, MA on March 4, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Josephine Rygula Dunaj. She attended St. Stanislaus School and Quinnipiac College and during World War II worked as an inspector at New Departure and Pratt and Whitney. Sometime later she joined Aetna Life & Casualty Insurance Company and worked for many years in the Title Department. She was an avid and enthusiastic reader, especially of Polish history. She also cherished her books on painting and writing, which was her passion. An accomplished poet, she was published in the 1930's of which she was very proud. Her other interests included: gardening, travel, swimming and Polish dancing. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church, a member of the Meriden Council of Catholic Women, the Arts and Crafts Association of Meriden, Inc., Aetna Women's Club, Meriden Senior Center, Polish National Alliance and Conn. S.P.C.A. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Marybeth and Wellington J. Walker of Hopkinton, MA and two grandsons, Heath R. Walker and his fiancee, Renee N. Rigolini of Boston and Leigh D. Walker of Westborough, MA. She was predeceased by a sister, Sophie D. Cyrkiewicz and a brother, Anthony Dunaj. The funeral will be held Monday, Dec. 18 at 11 a.m. at the Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. The Rev. Roland M. LaPlante will officiate. Relatives and friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
