Mary Anne Schulz died September 29, 2022 at home from complications of dementia. She was born January 15, 1938 in New Haven, and lived her entire life in this city she loved. She leaves behind her devoted husband Stephen Schulz, daughter Megan Schulz (Rory Torrey), and nephew Arnold Belfonti (Tricia). Mary Anne was predeceased by her sister Jean Belfonti and brother Edward Allen Thomson.
Mary Anne graduated from Hillhouse High School in 1955. She earned an associate in science degree from Dean College in Franklin, MA. Mary Anne worked for Yale University at Wright Nuclear Structure Lab for 46 years, where she fortuitously met her husband Steve. Mary Anne loved her job at WNSL and cared deeply for the people she worked with.
Mary Anne enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing tennis, watching movies, and shopping. She took great pleasure in snacking on potato chips and reading. Most nights she could be found in a cozy chair enjoying potato chips while reading the next best novel!
Above all, Mary Anne was a dedicated mother who always arrived at sporting events with a trunk full of food. Her enthusiasm for feeding people extended to feeding animals. Over her lifetime Mary Anne opened her home to countless wayward cats which had found their way to her New Haven neighborhood.
Friends may visit with her family on Thursday, Oct. 6th from 4-7 p.m. at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave. , Hamden, and are invited to attend a service of interment in Beaverdale Memorial Park, Section C, 90 Pine Rock Ave., New Haven Friday morning, Oct. 7th at 11:30 a.m.
