Meriden - MaryJane Valentine, 84 of South Broad St., passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2007 at MidState Medical Center. She was born in Meriden on Sept. 9, 1922 a daughter of the late Clifford Dale and Lydia (Hesselink) Valentine. MaryJane was a lifelong Meriden resident and a past grand matron of the Eastern Star, Meriden Chapter. She loved UCONN women's basketball and knitting. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the Griswold Special Care, especially Nana for their wonderful care for the last year of MaryJane's life. She is survived by a nephew, Bruce and his wife Virginia Valentine of Meriden, a niece, Kathie Valentine, four great-nieces and nephews and their spouses, Jason Valentine, Jamie and Rachel Valentine, Tanya Valentine and Kellie and Ken Spawton as well as a special friend, Virginia Gromala. She was predeceased by three brothers, Norman Valentine, Henry James Valentine, Clifford Dale Valentine Jr., a sister Harriet Valentine and a nephew, Clifford Dale Valentine III. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 14th at 12:00 noon at the Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12 noon, prior to the service.
