In Madison, May 3, 2005, Matilda Sperzel Scherb, formerly of Cheshire, wife of the late Carl W. Scherb, mother of Carlene S. Lauber and her husband, Raymond of Essex, Robert C. Scherb and his wife, Barbara of Wallingford and Clifford B. Scherb and his wife, Doreene of Madison. Also survived by 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Florence Baer and brothers, George and Robert Sperzel. Born in New Haven, April 14, 1907, Matilda was the daughter of the late George and Matilda Scharf Sperzel. A lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in New Haven, she lived in Hamden for many years before moving to Cheshire. Memorial service at Trinity Lutheran Church of New Haven, Sat., May 21, 2005 at 11 a.m. Interment will be private. Arrangements with BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden.
