Obituary

Michael Carlos David Tomlinson, 78, loving husband of the late Diane McNeill Carvalho Tomlinson, who recently passed away on June 2, 2025, died unexpectedly on July 28, 2025, in Griffin Hospital surrounded by friends and family. He was also predeceased by his first wife, Pauline Tomlinson, who passed away on July 26, 2004. He was born in New Haven on September 5, 1946, a son of the late Sidney and Winifred Smith Tomlinson, and was a lifelong resident of Woodbridge.

After high school, he proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years during the Vietnam War aboard the U.S.S. Hancock. He was employed by the S.N.E.T. Co. for many years in the data center, training, and IT Project Management prior to his retirement. Michael was a member and officer of the Grange, a member and former Deacon of the First Church of Christ in Woodbridge, and was a frequent patron at the Woodbridge Social. He also enjoyed vacationing at their timeshares in Pompano Beach, FL and traveling abroad to visit friends in England. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, cooking, and hosting regular Monday night family dinners.

Michael was the loving father of Julie (Grant) Kavanah and Scott (Adrienne) Tomlinson, both of Seymour, his children with his first wife, the late Pauline Tomlinson. He was the stepfather of Ben (Debra) Carvalho of Liberty Hill, TX and Jennifer Carvalho of Bethany. Grandfather of Eric and Sydney Marcinko, Ava and Riley Tomlinson, and step-grandfather of Kristen, Cain, Caitlyn, Alexander, and Leif Carvalho.

He was the brother of Debra (Rich) Wilkins of Ansonia and Judith (Alex) Cofrancesco of Bethany, and he is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

Friends are invited to visit with Michael's family on Thursday, August 7th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden. U.S. Naval Military Honors will be presented at 6:00 p.m. His family requests that in lieu of flowers, you consider a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project .
