Michael G. Haggerty (Blues), age 80, of Hamden passed away on October 25, 2023. Born in New Haven on February 22, 1943, he was the son of the late William and Alice (Kavanaugh) Haggerty. Mike retired in 2006 from Hartford Corrections/State of Connecticut. He is survived by his wife Marilyn (McGarthy) Haggerty and his step-grandchildren Daniel and Brittany Bambrick. He was predeceased by his stepson Sean Vecchio. Mike is also survived by his brother-in-law Michael McGarthy (Sally), and nephews Michael, Patrick, and Bryan McGarthy. He grew up in New Haven, where he developed lifetime friendships with his Wooster Street buddies. Mike had been a resident of Hamden for many years. He loved music and was an avid reader. In his younger days, Mike was very athletic and excelled in several sports. In his later years, he loved spending winters in his home in Sebastian, Florida.
His funeral arrangements in the care of Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, Hamden will be private.
