Muriel A. Smith, age 97, of Wallingford, passed away on May 14, 2018. Born in Brooklyn, NY on Feb. 17, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. Alma (Strawson) Vacaro. Muriel was predeceased by her husband, Thomas F. Smith Sr., and her son Thomas F. Smith Jr. Muriel is survived by her son Ronald Smith of Wallingford; her granddaughters, Jennifer Nelson of Wallingford, Carrie Bartomeli & her husband Chris of Seymour, and Lauren Ucol & her husband Elvin of San Diego, CA and her great-grandchildren, Nicole & Jeremy Moore & Isabella Nelson. Muriel was a resident of New Haven most of her life. She was employed by the Sergeant Co. in New Haven for over 30 years in the Accounting Department and later was a receptionist at the Jewish Home in New Haven. Friends may visit with her family at BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden on Friday, May 18th from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM prior to her Funeral Service, which will begin at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park, New Haven.
