MIDDLEFIELD - Oscar L. Ness, 84, formerly of 537 Main St., Middlefield, died Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at High View Health Care Center in Middletown. He was the husband of the late Madelyn Munson Ness. Born in Meriden, Jan. 21, 1919, he was the son of the late Charles and Amelia Dobrindt Ness. He was a graduate of Meriden High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater. Until his retirement, he was employed at International Silver Company, Factory E. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Meriden and was an avid gardener. He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald P. and Ellen Ness of Southington, Kenneth E. and Kathleen Ness of Killingworth and Eric R. and Pamela Ness of Middlefield; and two grandchildren, Carrie Ann Ness of Killingworth and Amanda Ness of Southington. He was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Ness, and two brothers, Erhardt Ness and Irving Ness. The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, 520 Paddock Ave., Meriden. The Rev. David Brinkley will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Arrangements are under the direction of the Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden.
