With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Parbati "Margaret" Singh at age 67. Margaret passed peacefully on May 25, 2026, surrounded by her family, held in love until her very last breath.
Born on July 21, 1958, in Ruimzeight and raised in Wallers Delight, West Coast Demerara, Guyana, Margaret was a cherished daughter of the late Dowlatram and Maharaji Dowlatram. In 1981, she moved to Suriname and married Deo in 1984. Margaret and Deo, alongside their daughters Niermala and Selena, moved to America in 1991 with the warmth of their roots and the hope of a new beginning. In 1996, their family was made complete with the arrival of their youngest daughter, Rashme.
Margaret built a life grounded in selflessness, warmth, and an extraordinary love for her family. She was a calm and nurturing presence with a remarkable gift for lifting the spirits of everyone around her simply by walking into a room. She anticipated her family's needs before they knew they had them, making everything feel warmer, softer, and more like home. She loved traveling the world, watching her beloved Indian shows, and had an unmatched gift for knowing all the family gossip before anyone else.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated and compassionate MICU staff at Yale New Haven Hospital.
Margaret is survived by her devoted husband, Deo; her three daughters, Niermala, Selena, and Rashme; her son-in-law, Mahindra; her grandchildren, Laila and Lucas; and her siblings, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, her nieces, nephews, and all who knew the immeasurable gift of being loved by her.
While her passing leaves an unfillable space, her family finds peace knowing she is held in eternal care. Her love lives on in every life she touched and in the hearts of the family she treasured above all else.
Friends are invited to visit with Margaret’s family on Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 4:00-7:00 p.m., with a service on Sunday, May 31, 2026, from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, CT.
