Obituary

Meriden- Patricia A. 'Mema' Lewin, 73 died on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at Meriden Center and Rehab. She was born in Meriden on November 21, 1936 a daughter of the late John Otto Fritz and Margaret Parziale Fritz Fantozzi. She was a graduate of Meriden High School and then worked for the City of Meriden World War II Veteran's Hospital. She was very patriotic and enlisted in the U.S. Navy for three years. After service to her country she started working for the State of Conn. with mentally challenged people until her retirement, although having many physical difficulties. Washington Drum Corp. was always a love of hers and was so proud to start the three generations of members. She loved all animals and was an avid bird watcher. Now Mema has her own wings to soear with the birds. Pat and the family would like to thank Dr. Audrey Lefkowitz, who made it possible for Pat to enjoy her grandchildren. Thank-you also to Dr. Nadkarni and the staff at Meriden Center for wonderful care and compassion. Pat is survived by two daughters, Lorene and Joy Lewin, four gandchldren, Jackie, Selicia, Cameron and Bethany, a nephew Jody Jr and two nieces, Karla and Christine. She was predeceased by three brothers, John, Joseph and Robert Fritz and a nephew Christopher Fritz. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, March 12, 2010 at 10:30am at St. Mary's Church, 5 Sherman Place, Meriden, the Rev. David Carey will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow at the State of Ct. Veteran's Cemetery, Bow Lane, Middletown. Relatives and friends may gather at the Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden on Friday from 9-10 a.m.
