Paul G. Desroches Sr., 89 of Hamden CT passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 8, 2025 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford, CT with family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Pauline R. (Courtemanche) Desroches for 68 years. Father of Paul G. Desroches Jr. and his wife Kristine of Hamden, CT, Ronald Desroches Sr. (Ret Battalion Chief, Hamden Fire Dept.) and his wife Julia of Hamden, CT, Michele Cappiello and her husband John Cappiello Sr. (Ret Chief of Police, Hamden Police Dept.) of Wallingford, CT and Patricia Sekelsky and her husband David Sr. of Shelton, CT. Grandfather of Grace & Jay Desroches, Ronald Jr., Matthew & Michael Desroches, John Jr. & Christopher Cappiello and David Sekelsky Jr.. Great-Grandfather of Vincenzo Cappiello.

Paul was born in Spencer, MA on January 9, 1937, the son of the late Alphonse J. and Fernande (Prefontaine). He was the youngest of 16 children. He was predeceased by his parents as well as 14 brothers and sisters. He leaves his brother Robert Desroches.

Paul grew up in Spencer, MA and graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School. He was in the US Army Reserves and was honorably discharged in November 1962. Following his marriage he resided in Southbridge, MA and eventually settled in CT where he lived the remainder of his life.

He worked as a life long mechanic starting out with Mobil and eventually opened his own business, Desroches Automotive until his time of retirement.

He was an avid golfer and you would always ?nd him on the golf course every weekend. He actively played for 50+ years and his love for the sport soon spread through the family to include his wife Pauline, his children and grandchildren. He was also a diehard UCONN Basketball fan and rarely ever missed a televised game. He was lucky to attend a few games in person with his wife at Gampel Pavilion.

The family would like to thank the sta? at Yale New Haven Hospital and Connecticut Hospice for the care which they provided.

Friends may visit with Paul's family on Saturday, September 12th 2026 at Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Ave, Hamden, CT from 10am -12pm with his Prayer Service to begin at 12 noon.
