Obituary

Miss Pearl Louise Moeller died Jan. 15, 2013 in New Haven. She was 97 years old and a resident of the Gardenside Retirement Center, Branford. She was the daughter of the late Herbert Louis Moeller and Pearl Shepard Moeller. Born and raised in New Haven, she was a graduate of Hillhouse High School, the Gateway School, and Mount Holyoke College, Class of 1938. She also earned a graduate degree in Fine Arts at William and Mary College. She worked her entire professional career at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, starting in the Film Department, then in the Library, in many capacities, culminating as the Special Collections Librarian. A painter in her own right, she exhibited in New Haven, the Art Students League, The Cork Gallery in Lincoln Center, and in Positano, Italy. She was a former Board Member of the Branford Historical Society and the Musical Art Society of Branford. For several years she was included in the publication 'Who's Who of American Women'. She was predeceased by her two brothers; Herbert Louis Moeller, Jr. and Chester Shepard Moeller. She is survived by her cousin, Mr. Edward Allen Phipps, Jr. and his wife Susan, and several other cousins. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment in Whitneyville Cemetery. Arrangements in care of BEECHER & BENNETT. 2300 WHITNEY AVE., HAMDEN.
