Obituary

MERIDEN - Phelanthe Nemphos, 98, died Wednesday, April 27, 2005, at Westfield Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late William Nemphos. Born in Greece on Jan. 25, 1907, she was the daughter of the late Panagiotis and Diamando Xanthakis Exarhakos. She was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in New Britain. She is survived by two daughters, Helen Ladas and her husband, Gregory of Meriden and Penelope Karageorge of Arlington, MA; two sons, Dr.Spero Nemphos and his wife, Ann of Texas and Angelo Nemphos and his wife, Artemis of Southington; eleven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and four sisters in Greece. She was predeceased by four brothers; a son-in-law, George Karageorge, a daughter-in-law, Dimitza Nemphos; and a grandson, Dean Nemphos; ''all Angels waiting for her.'' Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 3,2005 at 11 a.m. at St. George Greek Orthodox Street, 301 West Main Street, New Britain, CT. Trisagion wil be read at 10:45 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Meriden. Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church prior to the services. In lieu of flowers donations in Mrs. Nemphos' memory may be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Church.
