Obituary

Rocky Hill-Phillip S. Dean, 92, formerly of Meriden, died Monday, May 16, 2005 at the MidState Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Doris (Lyon) Dean. He was born in New Milford, CT, Sept. 2, 1912, the son of the late George and Bertha (Peck) Dean. Phil was employed by CL&P and Northeast Utilities from 1935 until his retirement in 1976. He recieved his Electrical Engineering degree from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1935. Phil participated in many church activities throughout his life and was active in church choirs. He was a member of the Masons Liberty-Continental Lodge #76 A.F. and A.M. in Waterbury. He had been active in the Power Squadron. He is survived by a son, William Dean and his wife, Martha of Rocky Hill; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Dean and his wife, Karen Wallace of Ramona, CA, Ellen Price and her husband, Alan of Houston, TX, Laurie Lee and her husband, Bryce of Williamsburg, VA; seven great-grandchildren, Rachel, Theodore, Sarah, Elizabeth, Seth Phillip, and Lydia Dean all of Ramona, CA and Abigail Price of Houston. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 21 at 11 a.m. at Center Church, 477 Broad St., Meriden. There are no calling hours. Burial in Walnut Grove Cemetery will be private. The Beecher & Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden is assisting with arrangements. Contributions may be made to the Center Congregational Church's Robert H. Wharton Scholarship Fund, the Organ Repair Fund or to the Roof Fund.
