Meriden - Robert August Hoff, 87, died Thursday, June 1, 2006, at MidState Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Lillian Flatow Hoff. Born in New Britain on April 25, 1919, he was the son of the late Albert and Augusta Wilk Hoff. He was self-employed at Meriden Slitting Company until his retirement in 1982. He was a member of Meridian Lodge No. 77. He is survived by three daughters, Claire Salerno and her husband, Nicholas of Southington, Carol L. Hass and her husband, James of Wallingford and Donna L. Hoff of Meriden; a son, John R. Hoff and his wife, Diane of Meriden; seven grandchildren, Lynn Hass of Wallingford, Staff Sgt. Robert Salerno, stationed in Missouri, Erik Salerno of Vernon, David Hettlinger of Michigan, Todd Hettlinger of Ashford, Heidi Little of Meriden and Eric Zimmerman of Florida; three great-grandchildren, Stephen Little and Bradley Little, both of Meriden and Cole Zimmerman of Florida; one brother, Howard W. Hoff of Middletown; four sisters, Eleanor Oberempt of Meriden, Ruth Oros of Wallingford, Dorothy Jarboe of East Killingly and Lydia Ceritto of Meriden; his longtime companion, Helen Sibley of Meriden; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, Albert Hoff and one sister, Lillian Hoff. The funeral will be held Saturday, June 3, at 10 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 531 Woodruff St., Southington. The Rev. James Debner will officiate. Burial will be in South End Cemetery, Southington. Relatives and friends may call Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Beecher & Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden.
