Robert M.
King, Sr.
December 28, 1955 – October 4, 2025
Robert M. King, Sr., "Bob," 69, passed away on October 4, 2025. Born in New Haven on December 28, 1955 to William King, Sr. of Hamden and the late Virginia Guerra King.
A student of Hamden High, class of '73, Bob was a member of the gymnastics team. His natural talent drew attention from different Universities. Although he did not pursue gymnastics, his passion for the sport never wavered. For over 20 years Bob was a part of New Era Gymnastics in many different positions, from coaching, designing ninja gym equipment, to helping maintain the facilities. Ultimately, his passion for woodworking led to Bob starting RMK Home Works, where he made custom furniture, kitchens, commercial displays and more. Over the years he also worked for other companies, sharing his woodworking skills. In his spare time, Bob loved working on cars, going to the beach, traveling and being around his family. He was best known for being the man to call if you needed anything fixed or built, and for having friends all over the state who knew they could rely on him for his ingenuity, his determination to get a job done, and loyalty to help anyone he cared about without thinking twice. He will be missed and loved by everyone who knew him.
Besides his father, Bob is survived by his sons, Robert (Melinda) King, Jr. and Daniel King; his grandsons, Roman and Giuseppe King; and niece, Meghan King. Predeceased by his brother, William King, Jr.
Friends are invited to join his family on Saturday, October 18th at 10:00 a.m. for a Memorial Mass at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 2819 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Burial will be private.
