Robert "Bob" Seashore, of New Haven, Connecticut, died on May 25th, 2020 after a brief battle with sepsis following a fall. His death was not a result of the novel coronavirus, COVID-19.

Born in Gainesville, FL on August 8th, 1971, he was the son of the late Dr. John H. Seashore and Dr. Margretta Reed Seashore. He grew up in New Haven, CT, where he was an active member of his local Boy Scout troop, achieving his Eagle Scout in 1989 after building a trail system that is still active today. After graduating from The Hopkins School, he attended first Ursinus College, then Temple University in Pennsylvania where he earned his degree in Landscape Architecture. An outspoken environmentalist and conservationist, Bob dedicated his early professional career to building environmentally responsible landscapes in Boston, MA, Fort Myers, FL and Denver, CO. Later, he returned to New Haven to help care for his father, John, as he battled amyloid angiopathy.

Caring for others was deeply embedded in Bob's core. He adopted animals, caring for dozens of dogs during his lifetime, including his beloved Bela, his constant companion for more than 18 years. No matter where he lived, his door, and his heart, were always open to a friend in need. He also cared deeply about our planet, dedicating time to local environmental clean up projects, trail revitalization efforts, and much more. The most important things to Bob were family, friends, his animal companions and protecting the Earth. He was, above all, a man of peace who fought for environmental and social justice, who believed deeply in the human capacity for love, acceptance and change.

Bob was an accomplished guitarist and avid music lover. He loved creating furniture pieces in the family wood shop, designing gardens and outdoor spaces for family and friends, attending concerts, and of course cheering on his beloved New York Yankees. He was famous for his epic gatherings, fantastic storytelling ability and letting his younger siblings and cousins win at cribbage and pool. Family records indicate that he never once lost a game of Scrabble, as he possessed both a prodigious vocabulary and a sagacious mastery of the rules.

Bob is survived by his mother, Margretta Reed Seashore of New Haven, CT; as well as his siblings Carl Seashore (Rebecca Fry) of Chapel Hill, NC, and Carolyn Seashore England (Ryan England) of Denver, CO. He also is survived by his many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He is mourned deeply by his wide network of friends all over the world.

A memorial service is planned for later this year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to an animal rescue, mental health resource or environmental conservation organization in his name, as those causes were the most dear to his heart.
