Rosalind E. Butterfield, 69, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at her home. She was born June 10, 1939 in Trenton, NJ a daughter of the late Sylvester and Ollie (Williams) Moore Sr. She retired in 2004 from Yale University- Payne Whitney Gym as a financial assistant after more than 31 years. She was an active member of the New Haven and Yale communities, loved jazz, especially the group; Earth, Wind and Fire. Rosalind was also a member of St. Joseph Church. She is survived by three daughters and their spouses, Camille and Johnathan Elliott Sr. of Springfield, MA, Kimberly Tappin and Alwrick Brown of Meriden and Jennifer and Danny Williams of Meriden and five grandchildren, Jazzmyne Tappin, Corey Williams, Marc Brown, Johnathan Elliott Jr. and Deaven Brown. She also leaves two lifelong friends, Carol Parler and Benice Davis, her former husband and friend, Harold Butterfield, niece and nephews, Richard Moore II, Michelle and Hassan Richardson, a sister-in-law, Yvonne Moore, a brother-in-law, Lonnie Wright as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Sylvester Moore Jr. and Richard A. Moore I, a sister; Gwendolyn Wright and a nephew Fredrick Moore. A funeral will be on Monday, March 9, 2009 at 9:00 at the Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave. Meriden followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, West Main St., Meriden. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, March 8 from 4-8 p.m.
