MERIDEN - Ruth Shirley Dunne, 88, formerly of Sachem Circle, died peacefully Tuesday, March 11, 2003, at the Curtis Home. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas M. Dunne. Born in Springfield, MA, Dec. 27, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Dora Smith Blackadar. She graduated from Meriden High School and was a graduate of the Teachers College of Connecticut. She was a member of the Saint Andrews Episcopal Church, serving many years on the Altar Guild and the Vestry. She was also a Sunday school teacher and member of the Episcopal Church Women. She served on the board of the Y.W.C.A. and was a longtime volunteer at the Soup Kitchen in Meriden. She was employed as a secretary for the State of Connecticut at the Wilcox Technical School. She is survived by two cousins, Shirley Colletti and Muriel Williams, both of Fairfield, CT and several nieces, nephews and grandnieces and nephews by marriage. Funeral service Saturday, March 15th, at 10 a.m. at Saint Andrews Episcopal Church. The Rev. Jane White-Hassler will officiate. Relatives and friends may call at the church from 9 to 10 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
