Ruth Erland, 93, of Wallingford, wife of the late Clifford Erland, passed away on May 21, 2014. Born in Bridgeport on December 10, 1920 to the late Lloyd and Adele Brencher MacBride. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Cowhig & her husband Dennis of Warrington, PA; son, Kenneth Erland & his wife Katherine of Wallingford; grandchildren, Rose Cowhig Federico & her husband Anthony, Kyle & Ryan Erland; many nieces & nephews & cousins. Predeceased by her brother, Willard MacBride. Ruth was a Past Matron of Alice Chapter OES #76, a charter member of Ashlar Chapter #116 at Masonic, a longtime member of Top Notchers at the First Baptist Church in New Haven, a member of the Ruth's Club, and did a lot of volunteer work at the Masonic Home. For many years, Ruth had been a secretary at H.M. Bullard Co. and McCarty & Sons. She retired from Quinnipiac as a secretary in the health department. Funeral Service on Saturday, May 24th at 10:00 a.m., at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave, Hamden, followed by a burial in Centerville Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with her family on Friday evening (TODAY) from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
