MERIDEN- Ruth Martha Ness, 86, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2017 at Miller Memorial Community. Born in Meriden on December 9, 1930, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Minna H. (Arndt) Ness and was a lifetime resident. She was employed by Lane Construction for many years before her retirement. Ruth was active for many years at St. John Lutheran Church in Meriden, where she served on many committees, including the Ladies Aid Society, was a Sunday School teacher, and member of the Walther League. Her love of needlework was apparent by the many framed works that adorned her walls. She is survived by her brother Robert W. Ness of St. Augustine, FL, a nephew; Robert J. Ness and his wife Robin, and two beloved great-nieces, Kailey and Ashley Ness, all of Saint Johns, FL as well as many cousins, relatives, dear friends, and her beloved cat, Hebron. She was predeceased by a sister-in-law, Mrs. Virginia (Jean) Ness. Ruth's family would like to thank the Miller Memorial nurses and aids for their excellent care, and Pastor Robert Hass for the many hours visiting with Ruth. A graveside service and burial will be held at a later date per the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ruth's memory may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 235 Pond Hill Rd., Wallingford, CT 06492. The Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden has been entrusted with the arrangements.
