Sami Aziz Malek, a beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away in Stamford, CT on Wednesday after a brief illness. Mr. Malek, son of the late Aziz and Khatoum (Ibrahim) Malek, was born in Beirut, Lebanon on June 18, 1936, and lived in New Haven for 35 years. He owned and operated Malek Construction Co. until his retirement in 2001. An avid gardener, master carpenter, and gourmet cook, he will be remembered for his generosity, hospitality, and sense of humor. Mr. Malek is survived by his wife, Rose (Shia) Malek of New Haven; daughter, Nora Malek of New York City; sister, Olga Nehme of Camarillo, CA; and one granddaughter. He was predeceased by his brothers, Moussa and Hanna Malek. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m.on Monday, August 29, 2005 at Beecher & Bennett, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Family and friends may call Monday from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven.
