Obituary

Samuel D. Clemons, 90, of Meriden, loving husband of the late Faye S. Clemons passed away on October 27, 2024, surrounded by family. He was born in Martin, TN on February 24, 1934, the son of the late Homer Clemons and Lavern Palmer. Samuel Clemons served as a Deacon at Mount Hebron Baptist Church for over 40 years. He is a 22-year Veteran of the United States Navy and the Korean War. Sam worked at Pratt & Whitney for over 20 years and, in addition, worked as a Chef at Yankee Silversmith and The Cabin Restaurant, a master on the broiler until his retirement. Sam was an avid fan of western movies and television shows and a football lover. Sam took the time to minister to all he met, always willing to offer you a word of prayer. He taught Sunday School at Mount Hebron for over 20 years and was a staple at the church cookouts and Vacation Bible School. He is survived by his children, Marvin (Norma) Trotman of Portsmouth, VA, Robert (Patricia) Clemons of Lima, OH, Robbie Clemons of Meriden, CT, Anthony Clemons of Long Beach, CA, and Samuel K. Clemons of Meriden, CT; his 21 grandchildren, and 44 great and great-great grandchildren. He also leaves several nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his grandmother, Della Burse, children, Tyrone Clemons and Valerie Roberson, and his sister, Zella Mae Bradbury.

Friends are invited to visit with Samuel's family on Thursday, November 7, 2024 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden, CT. The funeral service celebrating his life will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Hebron Baptist Church, 84 Franklin St., Meriden, CT. Visitation at the church will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. before the service.
