MERIDEN - Santiago Roman, 91, died surrounded by his loving family and friends, on Sunday, May 22, 2005, at Miller Memorial Community. He was the husband of the late Georgina Sanchez Roman. He was born in Moca, Puerto Rico August 25, 1913, a son of the late Tomas and Irene Caban Roman. He worked as a machinist at International Silver Company and then at Meriden-Wallingford Hospital. He had been active with the Latin American Society and he loved life, family, friends and music. He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Carmen Creel of Meriden and Consuelo and Hector Molina, Sr. of Meriden; a brother, Ismael Roman of Aguada, Puerto Rico; five grandchildren and their spouses, Demaris and Wilfredo Torres, Carmen and Edwin Molina Rios, Hector and Zaida Molina, Jr., Richard W. and Maria Creel and Jazmin Molina, all of Meriden; eight great-grandchildren, Hector Molina, Lauren Molina, Mya Rios, Gabriela Rios, Tessa Torres, Richard W. Creel, Jr., Matthew Torres and Andrew Torres, all of Meriden; two goddaughters, Rosemary Roman and Catalina Arce, both of Meriden; a godson, Michael Hernandez of New York; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceaed by seven brothers and sisters, Alfredo Roman, Celestino Roman, Inez Hernandez, Leopoldo Roman, Epifanio Roman, Serafin Roman and Sara Perez. The funeral will be held Wednesday, May 25, at 9 a.m. from the Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden and at 10 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
