In CT Hospice, April 1, 2007, Sarah Jaynes Pickens, 91, wife of the late Charles P. Pickens of Marlboro St., Hamden. Mother of Linda Pickens of Milwaukee, WI. Sister of the late Joseph, Henry, Oscar, Frederick, Richard and David Jaynes, Margaret Jackson and Frances Smith. Also survived by a grandson, nieces & nephews and a host of many dear friends. Sarah was born in Egemont, MA on Oct. 26, 1915, a daughter of the late Joseph and Susan Francis Jaynes. Because of her love of children, she was a caretaker on private duty for children in our area. Sarah had a great talent for cross stitching blankets. She also made wedding cakes and cakes for her church. She was a wonderful chef and had cooked for Count Bassey. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 5, 2007 at 11 a.m. at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden. The Rev. John Boyd will Officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
