Obituary

Entered in to rest eternal, December 8, 2002, Seabury Lewis 89, of 35 Hamden Hills Dr., Hamden. He was the loving husband of the late Hazel Goodall Lewis and the beloved father and father-in-law of Cynthia Lewis and William E. O'Donnell of Hamden and Venice, FL. Born in New Haven on September 21, 1913, he was the son of the late Frederick Parker and Grace Peck Lewis. He was predeceased by a brother, Phelps Lewis of Hamden and a sister, Katherine Wallace of North Haven and Fairfax, VA. He is survived by a niece: Attrude Lewis Smith of Granby and nephews, John Lewis of Cheshire, Roger Lewis of Granby and Donald Wallace of Fairfax, VA. Mr. Lewis retired from SNET in 1978 after 45 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army during W.W. II in Europe and received the Purple Heart. He had been a member of the New London Lions Club, the Rockville Exchange Club and the Loafers Club. At the time of his death he was a mentor at the Wintergreen Magnet School. Mr. Lewis was a creative writer and cartoonist and an active member of the Laurel Gardens of Hamden community. Friends may call at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 WHITNEY AVE., HAMDEN on Wednesday from 4 - 7 p.m. Funeral Service at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405.
