Sherry D. Knight of Bristol St., New Haven passed away Monday, June 16, 2003 in Bentley Gardens Health Care Center, West Haven. She was born in New Haven, April 13, 1951 a daughter of the late William and Mildred Bethea Knight and had been employed at the Dixwell Community House Inc. for over 13 years and was Executive Director from 1990-91. She graduated from Albertus Magnus College, was a founder of Creatively Yours Inc. and was a member of the Bethel A.M.E. Church. She served on the Board of Directors for the Arts Council of Greater New Haven and in 1991 received honorary mention as minority liaison and artistic director. She is survived by a daughter, Cheree Knight and her husband, Aly Camara of New Haven, a son, Jaja Layo of New Haven, three sisters; Lazelle Mullings, Fatiha Ahmed and Cassandra Knight all of New Haven, a brother, William Knight of Princeton, NJ and a grandson, Seny T. Camara. Funeral service Friday, June 20 at 11a.m. at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 255 Goffe St., New Haven. Rev. Daylan K. Greer, Sr. will officiate. Friends may call at church Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial in Hamden Plains Cemetery. Arrangements in care of BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden.
