Mrs. Shirley Rose Siering Duffy, 100 years old, of Cheshire, formerly of Meriden and wife of the late James M. Duffy, Sr., passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 26, 2023 at Cheshire Regional Rehab Center. She was born on December 30, 1922, a daughter of the late George A. and Anne Westermeyer Siering.
Shirley was employed by the Meriden School System for 36 years as a paraprofessional working with special education students. Her dedication to the students was obvious as she was awarded Teacher Paraprofessional of the Year.
She is survived by her son; Wayne E. Duffy of Meriden and his Life Partner, Joanne Cyr-Callaghan of Plainville; her daughter, Deborah Budd and husband Deen of Martin, SC; her grandchildren, Patrick Duffy of Meriden, Constance Duffy and husband Peter Hagstrom of Middletown, Heather (Tangney) Charpentier and husband Alain Charpentier of Rockfall, Michael Duffy, Sr. and wife Angela Duffy of Meriden, and David Budd of Meriden; several great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sons, James M. Duffy, Jr., Donald R. Duffy, and William G. Duffy.
A notable thanks to Special Ed teachers Daryl, Margaret, and Karen, who frequently visited Shirley.
Friends are invited to visit with her family on Friday, March 3rd at Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Her Funeral Service will take place in the funeral home at 11:00 a.m., followed by burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
