Hamden- Shirley A. FitzSimons, 75, wife of Bernard FitzSimons passed away on Saturday, October 11 at Yale New Haven Hospital. She was born October 29, 1932 in Derby, CT a daughter of the late Eric and Isabella (Bell) Stokes. She was a graduate of Grace New Haven School of Nursing and was a Registered Nurse at Yale-New Haven Hospital and then Hamden Convalescent Home. Shirley loved to walk, was very loving and nurturing and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. In addition to her husband she is survived by five children and their spouses, Patricia and Joseph McTague, Bernard and Deborah FitzSimons, Thomas and Mary Sue FitzSimons all of Hamden, Judith and Drewe Iannotti of Ormond Beach, FL and Daniel and Tracy FitzSimons of Atlanta, GA, a brother, Robert Stokes of Ansonia, and seven grandchildren, Michael and Terence McTague, Bernie & Scott FitzSimons, Tommy and Christopher FitzSimons and Matt Needle. She was predeceased by a sister, Jean Barto. Funeral service Monday, October 13 at 10 a.m. at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
