Meriden- Sophie K. Thompson, 100, wife of the late Raymond B. Thompson passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2008 at the CT. Baptist Home. She was born May 4, 1908 in Czechoslovakia a daughter of the late John and Sophie (Griglak) Krock. Sophie was a devoted wife and mother who always put her family first. The family would like to thank the entire staff of the CT. Baptist Home for the superior care and compassion shown to Sophie and the family. Sophie is survived by a daughter, Diane P Jones and her husband Keel of Villanova, PA., two sons and their wives, Robert W. and Carolyn Thompson of Haddam, CT and William B. and Patricia Thompson of Mendham, NJ, a brother Adolph Krock and his wife Lorraine of Meriden and six grandchildren and their spouses, Geoffrey and Susan Thompson of Lakeway, TX, Kimberly and Richard Fletcher of Harpenden, England, Hillary and George Berbeco of Weston, MA, Laura and Wayne Cochran of Fayvetteville, GA, Karen and Andy Richard of London, England and Susan and Patrick Blanton of Phoenix, AZ. She also leaves twelve great-grandchildren as well as many very special nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers, John, Bill, Andrew and Rudy Krock and a sister Eleanor Kurimsky. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 23 at 11:00am at the Hubbard Chapel at Walnut Grove Cemetery, Meriden. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden on Thursday, prior to the service from 9am - 10:30am.
