Obituary

Suk Ki Hahn, 88, husband of Shang Jin Yoon Hahn since 1951, of Alden Ave. New Haven, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2005 in Yale New Haven Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Pyung Yang, Korea, February 26, 1917 a son of the late Chun Kwon and Maria Kim Hahn. His parents predeceased him as a child, after which he raised his two younger brothers. Mr. Hahn resided in China, Japan, and Korea where he was proficient in those languages and was an extremely successful businessman. While in China he was a partner in a lumber business and he then lived in Korea during the 1960's. He was president and owner of the Han Guk Steel Pipe Manufacturing Co., president and owner Dae Dong Shipping Co., and pioneer in the manufacture of wool. Mr. Hahn later emigrated to New Haven where he was owner of the Concord 9 Jewelry Co. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, three sons, two daughters-in-law, two sons-in- law and ten grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister and two brothers. Funeral ceremony will be held Thursday morning March 17 at 10:30 a.m. at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 7- 9:30 p.m. Vigil prayers will be offered at 8 p.m. Burial in All Saints Cemetery.
