Susan Bennetto, daughter of the late John and Eunice Bowman Bennetto, died at Yale-New Haven Hospital on July 5, 2013. Susan was born in New Haven on September 25, 1931. She graduated from Prospect Hill School in New Haven, and Connecticut College for Women in New London class of '53. After graduation she worked at the Munson Art Gallery in New Haven, and then for many years at Hopkins School until her retirement. Susan was passionate about quilting, knitting, and crocheting, and made many beautiful gifts for family, friends, and children in hospitals and the Ronald McDonald House. She belonged to quilting clubs in West Haven and Branford. Susan loved gardening, cats, books and words, and did crosswords daily. Susan was predeceased by her brother John Bennetto earlier this year. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Verona Bennetto of Rochester, NY, and her brother Edward (Becky) Bennetto of Stockton, CA. Also surviving are nieces and nephews Loisa Bennetto (Chris Stodgell) of Rochester, NY; Jack Bennetto of Seattle, WA; Linda (Bill) LeConey of Smithville, NJ; William (Almeida) Bennett of Dale City, VA; and several grandnieces and nephews. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Friends are invited to visit with her family from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 12th at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave, Hamden. Her Funeral Service will take place at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. followed by a burial in Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven.
