Thomas E. Devine of 81 Isadore St., West Haven passed away Tues., Sept. 16, 2003 at his home. He was the husband of Anna Fraundorfer Devine. He was predeceased by two younger brothers, Harry and Howard and a sister, Ruth Anderson Boryszewski. Beside his wife, he is survived by a brother, Albert of North Haven, a sister, Grace Seastrand of Madison and several nieces, nephews and many good friends. Tom had conducted obedience dog training classes in Orange, West Haven and New Haven. He was designated by the Governor and police officials to attend classes in England, relating to a dog's proficiency in locating human remains, buried under ton's of structural debris. During the invasion of the Japanese island of Saipan in 1944, Devine, an Army Sergeant, inadvertently became involved in matters pertaining to the disappearance of America's famous aviatrix, Amelia Earhart. A book published in 1987 and another in 2002, present his and others EYEWITNESS verification. Devine had retired from the corporate office of Harvey-Hubbell in Orange. He was a member of the ''City of the Elms Barbershop Chorus'' and enjoyed singing with this group. He also enjoyed bowling with various senior groups. Graveside service Friday, Sept. 19 at 10 a.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery, West Haven.
