Vallabhdas M. Kalaria
August 31, 1935 – June 11, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Vallabhdas M. Kalaria at the age of 90. Vallabhdas passed peacefully on June 11, 2026, surrounded by his loving family at home.
Born on August 31, 1935, in Gingni, India, he was the cherished son of the late Mota Bapa and Mani Ba. Growing up in India, he attended school in Bhayavadar and Bhavnagar, an exceptional achievement for that time. Throughout his life, he lived in various parts of the country, pursuing business opportunities in Rajkot, Hyderabad, and Delhi. Despite facing many hardships, he was never one to complain. In 1960, he married his beloved wife, Champaben, in Kolki. The couple spent four years living in Mombasa before returning to Jamjodhpur, where they raised their four children while operating an oil mill.
At the age of 47, Vallabhdas immigrated to the United States with his wife and four children in 1983. The early years in America were not easy to say the least. He balanced all the responsibilities of raising a family in a new country. Despite working long hours and overtime in a labor job, he made it a priority to put his two sons through college. He supported the family in every way and laid the foundation to settle all his children in this country.
His loving and caring nature was felt by everyone he crossed paths within his life. In our home, he was a calm and nurturing presence. He was a pillar of strength in a large family and was looked up to by all near and dear. He enjoyed playing cards, taking walks at the beach, and sharing the company of his friends and family.
Vallabhdas is survived by his wife, Champaben, 4 children, 9 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandson. Surviving are 2 daughters, Mayuri and husband Rahulkumar, Cary, NC; Pragna and husband Dineshkumar, Windsor Locks, CT; and 2 sons, Anil and wife Shital, Milford, CT; and Vijay and wife Surbhi, Milford, CT. He also leaves behind 9 grandchildren – Raj, Rani, Ravi, Ami, Neal, Amar, Suraj, Anishi, and Rohan; and 1 great-grandson Veer and one more on the way.
