Obituary

Vanessa Priscilla Tillman ("Van" or "Nessa"), 64, a longtime resident of Meriden, recently of Waterbury, entered into eternal rest on October 29, 2021 after a courageous battle with thyroid cancer. Born in Richmond, VA on June 13, 1957, a daughter of the late Edward and Leila Green, Vanessa is survived by her daughters; Nakia Robinson (Errick), Latesha Edwards (Colonel), and Kendra and Alexis Tillman, brothers; Edward (Rose) Green, Albert Tillman, Sr., Reginald (Adelaida), Edmund (Michelle), Rodney (Mona) and Donald (Bonnie) Green, sisters; Edna Chapman Edison, Hazel "Tina" Tillman-Hoffler, and Nadine Bryant, and grandchildren; Isaiah, Regina, Jaeden, Amari, Steven, Errick III (aka "Judah"), Morgan, Sherod, and Markell. She also leaves a special aunt, Mary Shelton, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her brothers, Christopher, Marvin, and Wesley Tillman, and sister, Doris Green. Vanessa's greatest joys in life were her children and grandchildren. Spending time with her family always brought her the most comfort. She loved music and reading. She was often found reading the Bible and teaching her grandchildren scriptures. Vanessa cherished time with her family, but deeply missed her parents and predeceased brothers, mentioning them often so that they would never be forgotten.
A service celebrating her life will be held on Monday, November 8th at 12 Noon in Mount Hebron Baptist Church, 84 Franklin St., Meriden. Interment will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
