Victor Erlich died peacefully at home on Nov. 29, 2007 at age 93. Widower of Iza S. Erlich and son of Henryk and Sophia Dubnov Erlich, he is survived by his sons, Henry of Oakland, CA and Mark of Jamaica Plain, MA and their families, including seven grandchildren. Born in Petrograd, Russia and raised in Warsaw , Poland, he left in 1939, arrived in New York in 1942 and joined the US Army. A long-time professor of Russian literature at Yale University , he was an accomplished author, teacher, and scholar. A true gentle man and lover of life, he will be missed. Friends may visit with Victor's family on Sunday, December 2nd from 12-4 p.m. at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 WHITNEY AVE., Hamden.
