Victoria Mary Thomas Hammie, 87, of 6 Oak St., Branford, died on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at Yale New Haven Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of Morris Hammie, whom she married in 1949 in New Haven, CT and by whom she was predeceased. She was born March 10, 1915 in Bryantown, Maryland, the daughter of the late John Grant Lee Thomas and Ida Moriah Warrington Thomas, both of Bryantown, Maryland. She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Reed Hammie of Branford, CT. She was predeceased by a husband, Frank Eugene Forbes and their son, Richard Forbes. She is also survived by sisters, Mary Ellen Thomas Jackson of East Haven, CT. and Hazel Thomas Butler of Brandywine, Maryland. She was predeceased by brothers John, Pernell and Woodrow Thomas and sisters, Marjorie Thomas Forbes of Fresno, Californnia and Ida Mae and Addie Thomas of Bryantown, Maryland. She is also survived by a nephew, the respected psychologist, Dr. Wesley Forbes, of Fresno, California, two grandsons, Roy Elm Forbes of New Jersey and Richard Forbes, Jr. of New Haven, CT. and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews and two brothers-in-law. Mrs Hammie was a homemaker and a resident of Branford for 42 years. She was a member of the East Shore Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
