Walter E. Janis, 91, of 99 David Drive, died Saturday, Sept. 9,2000 at his home. He was the husband of the late Verna M. Janis. He was born in Passaic, N.J., June l5, 1909, a son of the late John and Mary Janesko. He was employed by the International Silver Company, Factory ''H''for 24 years until his retirement in 1974. He was a parishioner of St.Rose of Lima Church. He is survived by two grandchildren, Daryl Janis of Meriden and Deborah Janis of Meriden; two sisters-in-law, Pearl Sarafin of Wallingford and Sally Czine of Meriden; and a brother-in-law, Lee Sarafin of Wallingford. He was predeceased by a son,William Janis; a brother, Bruce Janesko; and two sisters, Mildred Moderelli and Stella Slaynesky. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000, at 10 a.m. at St Rose of Lima Church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. The Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden, CT is in charge of arrangements.
