Walter Montague, 82, of Meriden, passed away on September 14, 2015. Walter was born in Boston, MA on October 10, 1932, son of the late Walter and Marion Bowles Montague. He was predeceased by his wife Claire Virginia Montague in 2009. Walter is survived by his daughters, Mary Ellen Andres & her husband Judd of East Lyme, Carol Clavet & her husband Ray of Meriden, and Marion Owen & her husband Brett of Old Lyme; his son Thomas Montague & his wife Tracy of Alvord, TX; grandchildren Jason (Stacy) Barry, Mandy (Chris) McAullay, Michael Montague, Alyssa & Mitchell Andres and Ethan & Samantha Owen, and great-grandchildren Kellen Barry & Riley McAullay. Walter was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Following his Honorable Discharge he graduated from Boston University, where he received his A&P License. He then attended The University of Bridgeport and was a member of the Kappa Omega Epsilon Fraternity. He was formerly employed by Avco-Lycoming of Stratford, CT and retired from Scales Air Compressor Co. During his retirement he volunteered for many years at the New England Air & Space Museum where he worked on aircraft restoration. Walter was a member of the Catholic War Veterans of Meriden and a member of the Soaring Society and enjoyed flying gliders. Friends may visit with his family at BEECHER & BENNETT - FLATOW FUNERAL HOME, 48 Cook Ave, Meriden on Wednesday, September 16th from 9:30 to 10:30 AM and may attend his Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 AM in St. Rose Church, 35 Center St, Meriden. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
