Obituary

Warren Oakley Endriss, age 85, of Hartford Turnpike, North Haven, passed away peacefully on January 28 at the Hospice unit of Masonicare in Wallingford. Warren was the husband of the late Helen Traver Endriss. Father of Carol (husband Lee) West of Wethersfield and Wayne Endriss of Norwich. Born in West Haven on October 1, 1923, he was a son of the late Ferdinand Ellsworth & Jennie 'Jane' Hall Endriss. Warren was predeceased by his brothers Robert and Ellsworth Endriss. He attended Hopkins School ('42), where he was captain of the varsity baseball team and also played varsity football. Subsequently he attended Duke University for 2 years, then served in the U.S. Marine Corps (Marine Air Group 45) in the Carolines during WWII. Warren later finished his Bachelor's degree in accounting at Quinnipiac College in 1961. He enjoyed coaching his son's Little League baseball team in the Town of North Haven, winning a championship in the early 60s. He was a former Deacon with Whitneyville Congregational Church in Hamden. Warren was Director of Insurance for the former Armstrong Rubber Co. in New Haven. He was a 32nd degree Mason at Corinthian Lodge 103 for 52 years, member of the American Legion for 21 years, the Elks for 25 years the VFW and a longtime member of the Wallingford Country Club. He was a lover of animals and was especially found of the six Boston Terriers that were a special part of his life. His Funeral and Interment with Military Honors will be Private.
