Obituary

William A. Cook, 89, of Meriden, died May 15, 2025. Born in Boston, MA on September 8, 1935 to parents Arthur A. and Frances (Gulesian) Cook, he was the husband of Eleanor (VanMol) Cook, and is predeceased by his wife, Shirley (Fox) Cook. He was a USMC Korean War veteran, serving from 1953-1959, stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He was employed by C.N. Flagg Co. for 36 years as Director of Purchasing. William attended Fairfield University. He was a member of the Meriden Auxillary since 1976 and was a certified Police Officer, attaining the rank of Captain. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason, a Shriner (Sphinx Temple), and a former commercial pilot and flight instructor, employed for many years at Meriden-Markham Airport, as well as a certified and bonded locksmith, and a former firearm range instructor.

Bill leaves a sister, Betsy Ann Cook of Philadelphia, PA, a stepdaughter, Annie DuBois (Robert Tedesco), stepson, Tim VanMol (Ann), step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He was a gentle soul and a perfect gentleman. He will be missed.

Friends and relatives are invited to visit with Bill's family on Friday, May 23rd from 10:00-11:00 a.m. in Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden, followed by a service in the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
