MERIDEN - William Lawrie Dickson, 84, formerly of 91 Orchid Road, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006, at Masonic Geriatric Healthcare Center in Wallingford. He was the husband for fifty-two years of Dorothy Olson Dickson. Born in Meriden on May 4, 1922, he was the son of the late William L. and Nettie Hubbard Dickson. He was a graduate of Meriden High School and worked for Dickson Express Trucking, a family business, after which he worked as an expediter in shipping and receiving for AGC Inc. in South Meriden. He was a member of the Masons, Meridian Lodge #77 and Eastern Star. He was also a committee member of Boy Scout Troop 6 for twenty years and had formerly been a member of the JayCees. He was a member of Immanauel Lutheran Church and was an avid collector of model trains and trucks. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, William "Skip" Dickson and his wife, Debra of Salem, CT and Donald G. Dickson of Durham; a daughter, Cherie Toman and her husband, John of Killingworth; a sister, Doris Vaccaro of Whitefield, NH; and eight grandchildren, Rebecca White and Mark Dickson, both of Bristol, Brian Dickson of Salem, Jessica Dickson, Allison Dickson and Morgan Dickson, all of Durham, Erik Toman and Megan Toman, both of Killingworth. A memorial service will be held Thursday, Sept. 28 at 7:30 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 164 Hanover St., Meriden. The Rev. Perry L. Beaver will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden.
